Hello, My Name is

Hello, My name is James and if my managers are like yours then you are just as bored of uttering that phrase as I am. It is expected at the beginning of every shift and every first contact with our patients. Never mind, that due to demand of services and lack of follow up facilities that all of our patients have been here for too long and have become extended members of the family as you see them week after week. As if to say after 8 straight shifts that these patients will have forgotten our names or that patients will let random strangers do what they want to them without first being assured that they are qualified individuals.

I have worked within the National Health Service for over ten years and have spent equal amounts of time as both a Nursing Assistant and as a fully fledged Registered Nurse. Whilst, I am late to blogging there is a reason for my sudden emergence. I feel that in recent weeks that I have been failing to utilize my skills and experience to better myself and those around me.

Therefore I feel that by my giving up my thoughts, feelings and experiences that I may be able to better guide new beginners to hopefully not make the same mistakes that I have made upon reaching this point but to also give an honest and unbiased viewpoint of the healthcare industry in the UK.

The nursing profession, whilst fraught with difficulties is also full of potential to see human behavior at it’s best. Follow along if like me, you’d like to learn as you go and hopefully I can provide you with laughter and tears.

I’m Game if you are
